Red, White & Blue Picnic
Meet the Candidates & Canoe Race

Sunday, September 7, 2006

Come to Kanaha Park (Lae'ula O Kai Canoe Hale) and picnic with the Sierra Club. We'll have music, food, candidates and canoe races. There will be games for the kids, entertainment for the adults. Canoe race is from 9-11 and the picnic follows at 11am to 3pm.

And best of all, you'll be able to mingle with the Candidates and ask all those burning questions you have. But, not to worry, we won't let them give any speeches! We'll just introduce 'em and turn 'em loose to mingle with you while eat good grinds and listen to toe-tapping music.

Suggested donation is $5.

The Candidates' Day Canoe Race

If you'd like to support the Sierra Club and have a blast, enter our 1/8th mile canoe race. We'll give you paddles, a canoe, a little (very little) instruction and an experienced steersperson. Then it's up to you to paddle that canoe over the finish line.

Here are the divisions (which are mixed - 3 males and 3 females)

Keiki under 18
New paddlers Open
Paddlers 40 and older
Experienced paddlers open
Grudge match (contact if you want to set up a special race division)

Prizes for the winners! Prizes for the crew with the best costume! (Hey, if you can't paddle fast, you can surely dress better than the others!)

Race sign up starts at 8:30am
Races begin at 9:00am
$100 donation to Sierra Club (shared with Lae'ula O Kai Canoe Club) per canoe entry
